Deleting your Dawzr account

You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the Dawzr app. Here's how to do it,and exactly what happens to your data afterwards.

How to delete your account

Account deletion happens in the Dawzr app on your phone. It takes about a minute.

  1. Open the Dawzr app and go to Me — the tab with your profile.

  2. Tap My Settings.

  3. Tap Account Settings.

  4. Tap Manage account.

  5. Tap Delete account — the row marked Permanently delete your account.

  6. Enter your password to confirm it's really you, then tap Permanently delete.

  7. Confirm one last time. A dialog asks "Delete account?" — tap Delete permanently to finish, or Cancel to back out. Nothing is deleted until you tap Delete permanently.

This cannot be undone. There's no waiting period and no recovery window. The moment you confirm, your account and its data are permanently erased. If you're not sure, log out instead — you can always come back.

What happens to your data

When you confirm the deletion, we don't hide your account or flag it as inactive — we actually erase it. This happens in two places: on our servers, and on your phone..

On our servers

Everything below is permanently removed from our database straight away.

Deleted

  1. Your account — your profile, name, email address, and password.

  2. Your lists — every list you created, unless someone else is also an owner of it. See "What happens to shared lists" below.

  3. Everything in those lists — the places you saved, your photos, videos, notes, text and captions, tags and vibes.

  4. Your visits — every place you marked as visited, along with anything you added to it.

  5. Your social connections — the people you follow, your followers, friends, and anyone you blocked.

  6. Your devices and sessions — you're logged out everywhere, and your login stops working immediately on every device.

What happens to shared lists

It depends on whether the list has another owner.

A shared list only survives if someone else owns it too. If another person is an owner of the list, the list stays and the places you added to it stay with it — the others keep using it as normal. If you're the only owner, the list is deleted for everyone, even if you'd shared it with editors or viewers. Being able to edit a list is not the same as owning it.

So if a list matters to other people, make one of them an owner before you delete your account —that hands it over. If you'd rather it disappear, just delete your account and it goes.

Note: on a list that survives, you're removed as a member and your name comes off the places you added, but the places themselves stay on the list.

What isn't deleted

Places themselves. Dawzr's places — restaurants, bars, shops, viewpoints — are shared by everyone on the platform. Deleting your account removes your saves, photos, notes and visits from a place, but the place itself stays on Dawzr for other people. Nothing you delete removes a venue from the map for everyone else.

Anonymous, non-identifying records. We may keep aggregate usage counts and security or billing logs that can't be traced back to you, where the law requires us to.

On your phone

Dawzr keeps a copy of your lists on your device so the app works offline. That copy is wiped too.

  1. The app deletes its local database on the device where you requested the deletion — your lists, saved places, visits, notes and feed all go.

  2. Photos and videos the app had downloaded** to your device are deleted from its storage, along with your cached profile pictures.

  3. Your app settings and history are cleared — sort preferences, search history, and the rest.

  4. Your saved login is erased from the device's secure storage.

  5. You're returned to the welcome screen, logged out.

  6. Other devices: if you were logged in on a second phone or tablet, your login there stop working immediately. That device clears its local copy the next time you open the app.

Photos and videos you originally took with your phone's camera stay in your phone's own photo library — deleting your Dawzr account never touches your camera roll.

Good to know

Can I get my account back after deleting it?

No. The deletion is immediate and permanent, and we have no way to restore it.

Can I sign up again with the same email?

Yes. The email address is free to use again straight away — you can create a brand-new Dawzr account with it. It starts completely empty; none of your old lists, places or connections come back.

Do I have to delete my whole account?

No. If you just want a break, log out or delete individual lists and places from inside the app — your account stays intact.

Something went wrong when I tried to delete.

If the app shows an error, your account is untouched — nothing was deleted. Try again in a moment. If it keeps failing, email us at support@dawzr.com
